Many people assume that E-Liquids that you vape are some mysterious chemical or magical solution but that could not be farther than the truth.

Unless you are buying your E-Juice from some mystery company with no reputation then you most likely will be buying from small batch producers in the U.S and Canada.

Vegetable Glycerin

E-Liquids consist of a main base which will typically be certified organic Vegetable Glycerin.

The Vegetable Glycerin or VG does not carry flavor but produces a lot of vapor.

Propylene Glycol

The next ingredient is the one that stirs up the most controversy.  Propylene Glycol is cited to be the main ingredient in antifreeze by some but that is just a mistake.

Antifreeze is made of Diethylene Glycol which is something completely different from PG and is not safe for vaping.

PG is the main ingredient in albuterol which is what is inhaled in asthma puffers and is perfectly safe to inhale when vaped.

PG is used because it is less viscous than VG and carries flavor much, much better. A blend of PG and VG is the most popular formulation.

Flavorings are food grade and can be either artificial or natural and each producer will have their own methods to create rich but not overpowering flavors.

All producers make their E-Juices available in different nicotine strengths which range from 0 nicotine all the way up to 36 milligrams per milliliter.

"Although the US government and FDA have a negative opinion about e-cigarettes, American Heart Association(AHA) took a different approach in an online 20-page extensive report, although a little cautiously:

E-cigarettes either do not contain or have lower levels of several tobacco-derived harmful and potentially harmful constituents compared with cigarettes and smokeless tobacco… [e-cigarettes] present an opportunity for harm reduction if smokers use them as substitutes for cigarettes.Policy Statement from the AHA"
"Vaping offers a potential for smokers to reduce their health risks if electronic cigarettes are used in place of tobacco cigarettes and are considered a step toward ending all tobacco and nicotine use.Thomas Eissenberg, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond"
